Sugar Scrub Glow Up
It is HOT and the summer is approaching us rapidly. The best way to avoid dry skin or those flare ups from your chronic skin conditions is to exfoliate. The reason for dryness, sallow or dull skin is because the old skin cells are not being shed.
Skin goes through a phase every 28 to 30 days called Keratinization. What happens is the new skin cells push the old ones up and out. This is not always seen by the naked eye but if you've ever looked at your skin and seen it peeling.... that's what was happening. When the skin is dry or skin conditions like, eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis are present the dead skin does not come off, so you need a little help. Don't we all! Below is a basic recipe to use one to three times a week to get rid of that dead skin and start glowing.
Ingredients: 1 cup of Sugar, 1oz Lemon Juice, 1oz Sunflower, Avocado or Almond oil, 2oz Castile Soap (Optional), Glass Mixing Bowl, Spatula, Mason Jar
Directions: Place sugar in a bowl. Add lemon juice and mix until dissolved. If adding the castile soap add before the oil. Add oil and stir until completely mixed. Feel free to add a few drops of your favorite essential oil and mix well. Transfer into a container with an airtight lid. Store in your favorite go-to shower place.
To use: Cleanse the skin and while skin is wet use an ample amount of scrub and rub on your body with circular motions. Rinse well and pat dry.
Tips: Mixing the scrub with the castile soap adds a little more cleansing effect to the skin. Skin should feel hydrated after use. Feel free to add up to 4oz of oil to the scrub if you like more moisture.
Don't feel like making them? Its ok we have some body scrubs to tie you over until your in the making mood.
