We will get everything back on track and get our skin and hair ready with none other than clay masks. So the burning questions is what is the purpose of a clay mask?
Clay is a finely-grained natural rock or soil material that combines one or more clay minerals with possible traces of quartz, metal oxides and organic matter. Clay comes from the earth, and like all things from the earth it is beneficial for the skin and hair. Different types of clays come from different areas of the world. Just like anything else.....different types of clays are for different uses. Rhassoul and Red clays are derived from the Atlas Mountains in Morocco.Rhassoul contains silica, iron, magnesium, potassium, sodium, lithium, and other trace elements. Bentonite clay has its largest source in Fort Benton, Wyoming due to the numerous amounts of volcanoes. For the most part clays help to soothe the hair and scalp, heal wounds and assist with the condition of the hair and scalp. For this week we have a recipe for the hair and scalp.
Ingredients: 1 cup Seaweed, 1oz Bentonite Clay, 1oz Rhassoul Clay, 1oz French Green Clay, 1oz of Red Clay, 1oz Neem Powder, 1oz Grapeseed or Avocado Oil, 12-16oz of Spring, Distilled or Coconut Water.
Directions: Mix all clays together, Add oil and stir. Formula will be lumpy and that is ok. Add water 1oz at a time until you have a liquid consistency. It should be thick enough to apply with the hands but not to thin to run all over everywhere.
To Use: Apply to dirty hair and scalp. Part the hair into four sections and apply liberally to hair and scalp. leave in for 30minutes to an hour. Thoroughly rinse the hair and scalp and continue with your shampoo regimen. The hair will feel softer and it will be easier to comb through and detangle.
